"Convento de San Francisco", Santa Fe city
The organ and the church History
Giacomo Locatelli, 1901
The convent of "San Francisco" was constructed between 1660 and 1680 but the Church as it looks
nowdays was started in 1670.
The pieces of wood used for the various structures of the building came from trees cut in the
forests of Paraguay and moved to Santa Fe city using boats ridden along the Parana River.
This Church is unique in America considering the colonial art style in which was built.
The organ was built by the italian house Giacomo Locatelli in Bergamo city. Donato Sangaletti
was the person in charge of the organ mounting in this church in 1901.
